I must admit, this is one of the grimmest and darkest of my tales so far - putting a protagonist in a situation which grows ever more chilling and awful. My editor contacted me whilst she was reading it to ask "I'm near the end, does it get any worse? Because I don't want nightmares when I go to bed later."
