Progress Ongoing on "BUG HUNT"


I am currently working through the first draft of BUG HUNT, which will be my sixth SHORT HORROR TALE. As a short teaser, here's the opening - it's still rough, but should give an idea of the "feel" of the story...

The instant Graves and I made eye contact, we were ready to kill each other.

He was slouched in one of the dozen plastic chairs of the briefing room. His long, slicked-back hair had been raven-black the last time I had seen him – now it was streaked with grey, and I amused myself by imagining that he’d combed pigeon crap into it. Graves was still lean and gangly; there wasn’t an excess pound of weight on his body, which was a reminder of how fast, strong and damned deadly the man could be. As always, when he sat he sprawled – when he stood, his back would be ram-rod straight. Those narrow, dark, mean-looking eyes reminded me of a snake. The ugly scar underneath his clean-shaken chin reminded me of the time I’d slit his throat...
